Rut

Privacy policy

Rut keeps only what it needs to work for your household. No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your data.

Who is responsible?

The data controller is Hugo Wetterberg, Sweden. Email questions about your data to info@rut-app.se.

What we keep

Your account

How you sign in: an id from Apple or Google, or your email address if you sign in with email. Your name as the household sees it, your choice of language, and which phones you're signed in on, with each phone's name and when it was last used.

Your household's content

What you add yourselves: the household's name and time zone, rooms, chores, reminders, notes, who did what and when, and the points it earned. Everyone in the household can see this.

Notifications

A notification token for each phone, so Apple can deliver reminders and the morning summary, and your notification settings.

Subscription

When you subscribe, we keep the App Store transaction id and when the subscription expires, so the app knows it's active. Apple handles the payment entirely; we never see your card details.

Children who sign in by having a parent connect their phone have no account with us, only a profile in the household.

What we don't do

Rut has no ads, no analytics and no tracking across apps or websites. This website only sets a cookie with your choice of language.

Who handles data for us

The server runs at Fly.io in Stockholm and the database at Neon. Apple and Google are used for sign-in, Apple for notifications and subscriptions, and an email service sends sign-in codes. Each gets only what it needs for that task.

Why we may keep it

The data is needed to provide the service you've chosen to use (contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

How long

For as long as you have an account. When you delete your account in the app, it's removed straight away, with every way you sign in and your phones' sign-ins. If you're the only adult in the household, the whole household is deleted. Otherwise the chores you've done stay in the household's history as “Former member”, without your name.

Your rights

You have the right to know what we keep about you, and to have it corrected, deleted or handed over, and to object to how we use it. Get in touch at info@rut-app.se. If you think we're getting it wrong, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) or the data protection authority where you live.
